Trip to North India May 2011

This was my first visit to any North Indian Hill Station. Thanks to Mr. Palekar who actually had the plans to go to Mussoorie to meet Mr. Ruskin Bond and we joined in. Eventually, the trip extended beyond Mussoorie and we visited Shimla, the Summer capital of British India and Nainital, the hill station with the Nani Lake.

We took off from Mumbai on the 13th and came back to Mumbai from Delhi before coming back home at Nashik on the 28th.

Stays at Shogi, Chandigarh, Delhi and Small halts at few more places like Kasauli, Taradevi, Kempty, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun added up to the experience.

Major attractions of the tour was meeting Mr. Ruskin Bond ( on his birthday)in Mussoorie, The view of cloud clapped snow clad peaks of Himalayas (Trishul, Comet, Nandaghunti, Mc Tuli etc.) from Nainital, the walk from mall to viceregal lodge in Shimla, small visits to the clean and planned city of Chandigarh, The evening Aarti in Haridwar, walk in Muni ki reti (Rishikesh) with the Ganges flowing besides you and Laxman jhula in front,a touch of Mughal architecture in the form of Humayun's tomb in Delhi and of course the Break from normal work life.

One thing that's worth mentioning here are the markets at all the hill stations. They, with there normal merchandise somehow manages to attract every tourist (specially women and children) and almost all the shops are full with buyers and viewers all the time.

The small Stay in Mumbai with Sumit & Bulbuli was unique and worth mentioning.
